A Creative Life

As the weather starts to change so has my life, I am no longer a title, salaried person. I took a big decision to take redundancy and decide on a different way of life, one where I choose not to live on teams calls and in a constant state of fight or flight.
I will be looking for a new short term/part time job at some point (perhaps) but for now I am going to make blocks, read and concentrate on making my practice as genuine as possible - considering why I have taken this path.
In light of this, I wanted to introduce myself - I have always been what family would kindly say 'creative', less kindly say 'different' so always wanted to make, draw and protest. Joining friends of the Earth, BUAV and Amnesty in my teens, and making my own clothes to go to the pub wearing when I was 16. I considered studying textiles but ended up studying painting at Wimbledon School of Art for a year before realising that I needed to be nearer the sea and fields!
I then worked in bookshops and later libraries whilst raising 3 children on my own (another story!), all the while painting and exhibiting.
I have always loved craft and beautiful things, modernist buildings, the mark of the maker, simplicity and nature. All these elements leading me to a visit to Pallant House gallery bookshop and to take a punt on a book about Barron and Larcher and my path to block printing.
